Mothering Sunday falls on the 4th Sunday in Lent, just past the halfway mark to Easter Sunday. and was observed by Christians as a special Sunday to visit their Mother Church (there are no specific Biblical references) just the traditions, which also included making a simnel cake and taking it to their Mother.
